For us, the top priority is to offer

investments a year, which allow us
to have the highest quality services
for our users and the best customer
experience in telecommunications.
How big is your audience?
Claro has established itself as the
leading TV provider in the country
thanks to its programming variety
and the accessibility it provides to
customers. Currently we have over
two million subscribers and the
new America Móvil satellite,
StarOneC4, which was put into
service at the beginning of August
will allow us to strengthen our
satellite TV service and provide
coverage in more regions across the
country.
Claro is now taking Euronews
content. Why?
For us it has been a key point to
include the Euronews channel in
our grid. Our subscribers will find
global news 24/7, produced by the
Euronews team of more than 400
journalists from all over the world
and providing a broad view of
events globally. With the arrival of
this channel, we’re offering what
users want to watch – Euronews
will allow us to reach an audience
interested in European news in real
time. Our subscribers can find the
Euronews channel in advanced
digital TV on channel 459.
Are you looking for more outside
content?
Yes. Recently we signed two
agreements to launch before the
end of 2015 the France 24 channel
in French and the international
French radio RFI with information
in Spanish and the RFI Musique
channel. Both will be in the “TV
Digital Avanzada” package.
All these new channels are
included in the new Claro TV that
brings together Clarovideo, an
online platform to watch series,
movies, kids contents, music and
much more, and digital linear TV
services with over 50 HD channels.
Who are the main players in
Colombia?
Telecommunications in Colombia
is a dynamic and highly
competitive sector. The increasing
number of players not only
demonstrates its momentum and
growth potential but also the
intense competition for attracting
more demanding users. This means
the sector has so much room to
grow.
What are the trends in user
consumption?
People in Colombia spend almost
half of their day using different
devices in what is known as the
“multiscreen” effect. On average a
person uses their smartphone for 4
hours, their laptop for 4 hours, their
TV for about 3.5 hours and tablets
for 2 hours. This means video
transmission over the Internet is
growing incredibly fast. 85 of every
100 people in Colombia are
connected to a network at home or
at work for watching videos.
Does all programming have to be
HD?
Claro now has more than 50
channels in HD and with this we
always offer the best technology to
our customers. It is expected that
analogue broadcasting will fade
away and the HD programming
offer will increase. The most
important thing is to provide users
with all the possibilities for them to
access content.
