In 1996, the AIB launched The Channel. Initially this was designed for Members of the AIB, reporting on the Association’s activities and work of Member companies. It rapidly expanded to become the broadcasting industry’s only truly international orientated magazine that covered broad areas of broadcasting, from strategy to technology, programming to distribution, journalism to production, management to regulation.
The magazine was distributed to senior executives, technologists, producers, editors and journalists in media companies throughout the world, with more than 4,000 copies mailed to readers in over 110 countries.
As the world became more digitally-focused and global postage costs soared, the AIB decided to refocus its work in the online space, increasing the editorial content of the Association’s website in both text and visual formats.
This archive of The Channel offers an unique insight into how the media industry has altered over the life-time of the magazine and is available for everyone to use as a research tool or for personal interest.
