Danjuro: A Kabuki Star for Three CenturiesDecember 31 Sat. Kabuki actor Ichikawa Ebizo in November of 2022 assumed the name Ichikawa Danjuro XIII in an important career milestone. The first performer to go by the name was active 300 years ago and established many of the traditions that we associate with kabuki, one of which is the passing of actors’ names down the generations. Join us as we take a look at a special performance to mark the name change and some of the highlights of Ichikawa’s repertoire. |
