After Brussels, London, Cairo and Doha, euronews is opening a new bureau in Paris.

The channel continues to establish bases in strategic locations worldwide, and to extend its coverage of the business world via its Paris bureau. This base will also enable the channel to provide close-up coverage of the French presidential election, in liaison with its newsroom HQ in Lyon.

Giovanni Magi, an experienced Italian journalist who is trilingual (English, French, Italian), holds a political-science degree from the University of Florence. He began his career working with many Italian media organisations, including prominent daily newspapers La Nazione and Il Messaggero, business daily Il Sole 24 Ore and Rai television. He also worked as press manager for various companies and institutions.

In 2001, Giovanni joined the international news channel euronews as a news journalist, and was later promoted to duty editor. Since 2004, he had been head of the channel’s Italian service. Giovanni directed and produced numerous reports and interviews including “Fly”, the channel’s aviation and aerospace magazine series.

Lucian Sârb, Director of News and Programmes, said: “Since 23 January, Giovanni Magi has been the channel’s economics and business correspondent. His job is to cover world economic affairs and large companies from his Paris base. Giovanni’s journalistic experience, multicultural mindset and understanding of the business world are a tremendous asset for our output.”
