Vizrt Ltd. announced today a deal worth USD 297,000 for the implementation of broadcast graphics products with Tek Signals LLC, a systems integrator in the Middle East. Tek Signals LLC is working with a 24 hour news channel to upgrade and expand their existing facility including their current Vizrt installation.
The deal includes adding additional channel branding capabilities for the news channel with Viz Multichannel and Viz Ticker, Vizrt’s real-time 3D ticker control system. Viz Engine was also purchased to provide real-time rendering of graphics for Viz Multichannel and Viz Ticker. (Source: Press release)

SES announced that its subsidiary SES DTH do Brasil has signed with Anatel (the Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency) the Satellite Exploitation rights terms for two Brazilian orbital positions (48 degrees West and 64 degrees West). The Anatel auction took place in May of this year and the execution plan documents were under review and were the driver for the time being the auction and the signature.
As of the publication of extracts of the rights terms, SES will have four years to make definitive capacity available at 48 degrees West and six years to make definitive capacity available at 64 degrees. At the 48 degrees West orbital position, SES will focus on multiple uses (FSS model – Fixed Satellite Services) and will operate in C-, Ku- and Ka-bands. The 64 degrees West orbital position will be exclusive for direct-to-home use (BSS – Broadcasting Satellite Services). The exploitation rights are valid for 15 years, renewable once for the same period. SES invested a total of R$ 59.8 million (approximately EUR 19.65 million) for the positions.
The official ceremony of signature took place in Brasilia (DF), at the headquarters of Anatel. Present at the event were Mr. Marconi Thomaz de Souza Maya, Anatel Superintendent of Grants and Resources for Provisions and Vânia Maria da Silva, Tawfic Awwad Junior, Marcos Estevo de Oliveira Correa, Afonso Rocha Ferreira Júnior and Marcos Vinicius Ramos da Cruz, members of the Anatel Special Bidding Commission. Jurandir Pitsch, Vice President, Commercial for Latin America-South, represented SES.

France 24 today launches a new version of its Android application, compatible with all devices equipped with the Google mobile operating system, available for free on Google Play.
Adapted to new practices in news consumption, this new trilingual application (French, English, Arabic) features streamlined design and very fast video loading for greater user comfort.
This version has been completely redesigned for navigation on tablets and all video content is now compatible with the Chromecast service.
In addition to free access to articles, reports and all France 24 programmes, mobile users can now personalize their navigation thanks to a new “Favourites” page that lets them create a catalogue of content and build up lists of articles using keywords. They can also use the “tweets” tab to follow the activity of France 24’s journalists and programmes in real time on Twitter.
Lastly, thanks to the dedicated tools, users can share the news items of their choice on the social networks. To follow breaking international news as it happens, users can also sign up for news alerts in the language of their choice.
A pioneer in mobile broadcasts, France 24 has been available on smartphones since February 2009. The international channel was the first in the world to broadcast its programmes live on these devices.

France 24 has concluded a new distribution agreement in Thailand with major cable operator Chaoren.
Thanks to this agreement, France 24 English version is now available in 300,000 additional households across the country in the operator’s basic offer on channel 22.
Already available in Thailand on various cable, satellite and IPTV offers, this new agreement allows France 24 to reach 2,525,000 households 24/7, which represents a quarter of all digital households in the country.
