he first point is
what we are
offering is available
to everybody –
television or radio
broadcasters, Rights
Holding
Broadcasters or Non‑Rights
Holding Broadcasters. We are
looking to tell the London story
and that's just as relevant to RHBs
as it is to NRHBs.
Our London Media Centre is
located in central London, One
Great George Street. It will offer
playout facilities as well as edit
facilities. If you want to base
yourself at the LMC you'll be able
to book office space there as well.
We can provide broadcasters with
the full service, or we can help
them find facilities or equipment
for hire for the period of the Games.
The Media Centre will have
three fixed camera positions in key
London locations with a fibre link
back to master control room at the
LMC which will then have the
ability to play out to tower or to
wherever agreed with the

broadcaster. We will have some
iconic locations, for example on the
South Bank with the London Eye
and the Houses of Parliament as a
fantastic backdrop, or London
Bridge and the Tower of London
and Trafalgar Square. All these are
synonymous with London and
provide picture postcard
backdrops.
In addition to that we are
looking at 40 or so ancillary
positions where people can do a
piece to camera and then go away
and edit it. So the broadcasters
really have a choice of different
locations around the city that will
give them backdrops of London
that can be linked to different
editorial strands such as business,
heritage, art, fashion or even with a
Games location in the background
as well. Also bookable through the
Media Centre will be some
positions with ENG parking – so
people will be able to take their
small ENG vehicle along, park it
up, do their uplink, send their
report, go live on air, and drive off
again.
Who takes care of permits?
We are working with the 33
Boroughs of London, private
landlords and London attractions
to create a pan‑London filming
opportunity for broadcasters so
that the LOCOG (London
Organising Committee of the
Olympic Games) pass and the
London Media Centre pass is
accepted everywhere as the film
permit for the period of the Games.
We are creating a simple process for
everybody and putting together a
guide to filming in London during
the Olympic period.
Are you offering packages?
We have appointed as
broadcast/digital partners North
One Television and Flint London.
Since July we've been offering short
colour pieces on how London is
preparing for the Games, the
background of London as a host
city, things you'll be able to do
during Games time, stories that are
emanating from the city around the
Games. These five minute packages
are available free to broadcasters –

London & Partners is the official promotional agency for
London. In the run-up to and during the 2012 Olympics the
agency is putting in place facilities for broadcasters all over
London, outside the Olympic site. This is good news
particularly for Non-Rights-Holders as L&P's London Media
Centre will serve as a hub for non-Olympic accredited media.
We asked Mark Howell, Associate Director 2012 – Media and
Logistics who leads on the London Media Centre, what
exactly is on offer
