Eurosport 3D content
for Nintendo
is to provide branded
3D sports content on a weekly
basis for Nintendo’s new 3DS
gaming console. Eurosport will
provide Nintendo 3DS owners a
series of 3D sports videos from
its popular WATTS programme,
which features a mix of exciting
sporting action and the funniest
sporting outtakes from around
the world.
The 3D videos can be downloaded
free to the Nintendo 3DS on a
dedicated Eurosport video player
application accessed via Wi-Fi.
“The clips from Eurosport’s
WATTS will engage and entertain
Nintendo 3DS users," said
Heather Bowler, Eurosport’s
Global Communications Director.
“This collaboration with Nintendo
extends our branded content within
an important target audience."
The partnership between
Eurosport and Nintendo,
manufacturer of the Wii and
Nintendo DS, was announced in
early 2011, along with a raft of
other content providers such as
Sky. Eurosport is Europe's
leading sports multimedia
platform providing quality sports
content across TV, internet and
apps for mobile and tablets.

STB CRACKDOWN
As reported by Dataxis, the
Brazilian Federal Justice
Ministry has decided to ban
the sale, import and advert-
ising of the STBs that enable
illegal Pay-TV channel access,
known as AZBox. The move
was spearheaded by the
Brazilian Pay-TV Association,
which estimates that the up
to 700,000 devices of this kind
in the country lose the
industry US$ 53m in revenue
per month. Other Latin
American countries such as
Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile
are also concerned about the
growth of illegal boxes.

Bahrain
media city
Bahrain News Agency reports
that Al-Arab News Channel and
Rotana Media Group are setting up
their headquarters in Bahrain's
first Media City in 2012. Manama
will house the headquarters of
Rotana group and its operation
management centres and
administrative offices, while their
studios remain in Cairo and
Beirut. In an effort to expand its
media sector, Bahrain has entered
into agreements with the BBC,
VOA and the French National
Institute of Audiovisual, and a
budget has been allocated to set
up Bahrain's first 'Press Club'.
Euronews leadership
With a view to boosting
development, the
channel's Supervisory Board has
appointed Paolo Garimberti as
its new Chairman and Michael
Peters (right) as the new CEO.
The Supervisory Board also
decided to create a new
subsidiary for Euronews, known
as Euronews Development,
which - led by Philippe Cayla –
will provide Euronews SA with
media business development
services. In November the first
stone was laid for Euronews new
world headquarters in Lyon's
Confluence district, with
operations at the new site
starting in 2014. In January
euronews announced that it had
concluded an agreement with
Israel's leading cable operator
HOT for euronews services in
English and Russian to be
distributed to 800,000 digital
subscribers throughout Israel,
thus reinforcing its presence in
the Middle East.
