We’re looking for documentaries that focus on issues of national
importance. The winning documentary will have a sense of ambition
that clearly separates it from other productions. It may cover
contemporary or social issues, the environment, national identity, or
politics, among other subjects.
The documentary should provide an in-depth examination of the
subject, with insight that isn’t available elsewhere, perhaps with new
facts and perspectives. It should present the facts fairly and in a way
that engages the audience throughout the programme. Context is vital
in ensuring that viewers understand the subject. Our judges will want
to understand why this subject merited an in-depth investigation. We
expect to see extraordinary access to the key protagonists in the story.
The narrative will be clear, the editing first-class, the use of graphics
carefully considered.
The documentary should have been transmitted or made available
online between 1 June 2014 and 30 June 2015.
