Media companies – whether operating TV channels or online platforms
– have the responsibility to investigate stories and report findings to the
public. Our international investigative documentary award is looking for
productions that have worked hard to uncover facts beyond a country’s
borders.
AIB recognises that carrying out an international investigation requires
significant resourcefulness and determination – our past winners in
this category have demonstrated these attributes with remarkable
investigations in the most challenging parts of the world.
We’re looking for detailed research that has provided incontrovertible
evidence to support any claims made in the programme. We’ll want to
see the subjects under investigation given the chance to respond to
claims, and we’ll want to be sure that any sources have been protected
from possible repercussions.
The story-telling will be clear and engaging, with plenty of context for
the viewer who may not have been aware of the story before this
investigative documentary was aired.
The documentary should have been transmitted or made available
online between 1 June 2014 and 30 June 2015.
