GlobeCast Australia announced on 4 November that they have signed an agreement with Horizon World Plus TV Pty Ltd to distribute a bouquet of four Russian television channels on the PanGlobal TV direct-to-home satellite platform in Australia. The Channels RTVi, Teleklub/Detski Mir, Nashe Kino and RTR Planeta will utilize capacity on the PanGlobal TV platform located on the Ku-Band Australia Beam of PanAmSat’s PAS 8 Pacific Ocean Region satellite.

The Russian service is the first bouquet of programming to be launched on the PanGlobal platform. The service will be available Free to Air with the goal of being encrypted by the end of the year. These four channels are designed to keep Russian immigrants in touch with their homeland, as well as promote services of interest to them in Australia.

PanGlobal TV, a joint marketing alliance between PanAmSat Corporation and GlobeCast Australia was launched in September 2004. The platform provides a range of transmission services to international broadcasters who wish to reach Australia’s five million multicultural viewers.
