TRT is ready for the World Cup

12 June 2026

The wait is finally over for football fans. The World Cup, the world’s largest football tournament, has been held every four years since 1930 and will now crown its 23rd champion. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will bring many firsts to football fans. Hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, it will be the first tournament in history to feature matches across three countries. There will also be a significant increase in the number of participating teams. With 48 nations competing, this will be yet another first for the tournament.

As has become tradition, the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) will once again bring the World Cup to Turkish football fans. Having broadcast the tournament live since 1974, TRT is well placed as the broadcaster, drawing on more than half a century of experience in this field. TRT will broadcast all 104 matches live for Turkish football fans via its channels and the tabii platform.

TRT has finalised its plans to successfully convey the excitement of the World Cup, both through traditional media and on social media. With a team of experienced World Cup broadcasters and successful young on-air personalities, TRT will cover the matches across three host countries. Reporting live from the stadiums, TRT’s commentators and presenters will deliver match coverage, pre- and post-game analysis, and updates capturing the World Cup atmosphere for audiences in Türkiye. The TRT Sports Digital team will share live and colourful on-site coverage via social media, while also immersing followers in the World Cup excitement moment by moment with details such as infographics and footage of unforgettable matches from the archives.

TRT has also set up a special team to cover the Turkish national football team. This team, which has been closely following the national team for years, has been reporting on the latest developments since the players arrived in the U.S. The TRT team will also bring the Turkish national team’s World Cup experience to Turkish football fans through special broadcasts before and after all their matches.
