BroadcastAsia2004 is set to play a bigger role as the region prepares
itself for a wave of digitisation in the industry. To be held at the Singapore
Expo from 15-18 June 2004, BroadcastAsia2004 will see broadcasters
and industry experts from around the world convening to explore the
latest electronic media initiatives ranging from media content production
to management and delivery. Leading companies from the professional
audio, computer graphics, cable and satellite industries will also be
showcasing their latest products and services as Asia Pacific looks poised
to embrace the digital media revolution.
Increased competition and rapid technological advancements have led
to the proliferation of new services such as cable television and Internet
enabled television, which are based on digitisation. Convergence between
the telecommunications, computer and broadcast industries is also
occurring. These developments have triggered a massive transformation
in the traditional broadcast industry as broadcasters and players seek
to improve their services and competitive ability.
“The traditional broadcast industry is changing rapidly as companies
realize the need for digitisation of their processes and resources, and
this presents specific challenges for industry players.
BroadcastAsia2004’s aim is to provide a forum for companies in the
industry to discuss these vital issues and share insights on industry
developments,” said Mr Stephen Tan, Chief Executive of Singapore
Exhibition Services (the organiser of BroadcastAsia2004).
BroadcastAsia2004 will this year gather over 600 exhibiting companies
including prominent industry players like AIB members Harris Corporation,
Omnibus Systems and Quantel.
Participating this year is Microsoft’s TV Group, which is excited about
prospects in the region.
“BroadcastAsia is a key conference in the region
and creates a conducive environment for us to network, form strategic
alliances and find new markets to tap into. There is a lot of interest and
excitement in the Asian market this year for our solutions and we are
eager about the prospects of doing business with even more customers
at BroadcastAsia this year,” said Ed Graczyk, director of marketing for
the Microsoft TV Group at Microsoft.
