WRN Broadcast
Set up in 1993 as the global knowledge network for the
broadcasting industry, AIB encompasses radio, television,
online and mobile and works with professionals in all
media related sectors. As membership grows, so does
the range of AIB activities, says CEO Simon Spanswick
t’s great to be able to share the news that a
number of companies have joined the
Association since April this year:
Antena 3,
Arabsat, BBC Global News, Eutelsat, SatLink
Communications, Spectrum Radio Network
and
Voice of Russia
have all become AIB members.
They will benefit from market intelligence and
tenders briefings, partnership and C‐level networking
opportunities, industry briefings, consulting, as well as
the AIBʹs global marketing platforms.
REGULATIONANDMORE
One of the areas AIB is currently engaged in is
regulation. It’s important, in AIB’s view, that regulation
is fair, proportionate and relevant and we are pressing
our arguments to support AIB members whose
interests are threatened by new media regulation.
We’ve also been helping a government investigation
into international broadcasting, establishing
connections for the investigatory team and liaising
with broadcasters around the world to ensure that the
investigation is well briefed and informed.
POST-OLYMPICBRIEFING
For audiences worldwide, the London Olympics will
be a highlight of this summerʹs viewing schedules. The
broadcasters are already looking ahead – to the next
big event. A huge amount of knowledge will be shared
at the Post‐Olympic Broadcast Briefing that AIB is
organising in partnership with Wimbledon in London
on 12 October.
This invitation‐only event will bring together heads
of sport at broadcasters all over the world to examine ‐
in a confidential, off‐the‐record environment ‐ the
highs and the lows of covering the London 2012
Olympics, sharing knowledge about what worked,
what could have been better and looking ahead to how
lessons learnt can be implemented in sports coverage
in the future. With the BBC, Facebook, LOCOG and
other key players taking part, this is an important
knowledge‐sharing event.
