Connectivity Without
Complexity
Revolutionary Net VX™
integrated networking solution.
The complex task of
distributing, producing
and transmitting audio,
video and data in a digital, multichannel world
with multiple formats, compression schemes
and distribution protocols ... just got simpler.
Within one box Harris delivers its high-speed
Net VX answer to the “too many formats and
networks” problem. Never again work within
bi-directional traffic environments with hybrid
technical systems.
Replace five racks of equipment with a single
platform solution that delivers media in multiple
formats across hybrid networks. An easy to
manage integrated solution for IP routing and
ATM switching, that supports services across
fiber, microwave, and satellite networks
simultaneously. Reduce ongoing maintenance
of multiple “black boxes” and lower service
agreement and support costs. Count on Net VX
scalability for true plug-and-play expansion.

durability has led many broadcast studios, OB trucks, production
houses and monitoring stations to adopt JVC CRT monitors. With
the advent of High Definition, the display qualities of CRTs are
improving while the need to fit more monitors into less space is
leading to a growth in demand for flat screen TFT monitors. The
net effect of these changes in production facilities and user demands
is the development of a growing line-up of differing screen options
and a wider selection of signal inputs.
While JVC has a proven capability to provide products that can
satisfy the most sophisticated broadcast requirements, it is
important to realise that the consumers in the larger European
market may have differing agendas and needs. For example 16:9
is more popular in the UK and Scandinavian countries, however,
this is slowly spreading across the rest of Europe. European market
needs vary from country to country, and JVC aims to provide a
solution wherever possible. Interestingly, the broadcast qualities
of the 4:2:2 component digital D-9 production format – a very
cost-effective solution – has enjoyed substantial success in the
emerging east European markets. Perhaps understandably, the
pressure of producing more for less, to “feed” a growing
programme-hungry network of terrestrial and non-terrestrial
providers, has led to a ready adoption of JVC’s lower cost but
high quality digital format – Professional DV. Additionally, in the
non-broadcast arena, and particularly the (tertiary) education
market, where pressures on programming budgets are just as
severe, Professional DV has fared particularly well.
New and improved technologies are continuously evolving, with
fresh business opportunities emerging in many new as well as
traditional markets. An example of this can be seen in Turkey
where many production companies have welcomed the introduction
of JVC’s DR-DV500E removable hard disk recorder. This unit
can be docked directly to the GY-DV5001 Professional DV
camcorder, to record a DV signal from the camcorder onto a
removable, standard 2.5" compact hard disk drive.
As the recorder is capable of recording in the file format of all
popular NLE systems, once the camera operator has finished
shooting he /she can remove the disk drive from its caddy and
plug it into his/her NLE system via the Firewire connector and
begin to edit. As this
eliminates the need for
rendering, these Turkish crews
have been delighted with the
time savings that have been
made from the shoot to final
production. The choice of
either b40Gb or 80Gb hard
drives enable either three or six
hours of digital recording time.
These recorders have been
particularly useful for field applications. Already several car
advertisements have been filmed in Turkey using this GY-
DV5001/DR-DV500E combination. As Anil Parmar, JVC’s
Export Sales Manager for Turkey comments, “In Turkey JVC is
synonymous with reliability and affordability and these
combinations have proved popular, particularly as the 26-pin
interface connection on the hard disk recorder means that
considerably more functions of the recorder can be monitored
in the viewfinder of the camera.”
There will always be a demand for the latest technology to
improve the viewing qualities at home and in the work place.
