HRH Prince Harry will marry Meghan Markle on Saturday 19 May 2018. There is intense interest in this event from the news media around the world, particularly since the bride is a well-known actress.The wedding will take place in Windsor, to the west of London. Thames Valley Police which is in charge of security at the wedding has asked the Association to tell our Members and the wider media industry about a media briefing that is taking place on Wednesday 28 March. The purpose of the briefing is to explain the Force’s role in policing the wedding, highlighting a number of its security operations in the build-up to the event as well as outlining media opportunities in advance of the wedding.
This is a non-reportable briefing designed to provide broadcasters with background information on the policing operation and discuss forthcoming media opportunities. Assistant Chief Constable David Hardcastle, who is the strategic lead for the policing of the wedding, and Superintendent Jim Weems, the tactical lead for the policing of the wedding, will be at the briefing to provide background information and answer any questions AIB broadcaster Members may have.
